I learned about the passing of the beloved prophet of our church President Gordon B. Hinckley on Monday morning while I was getting ready for school. My heart just ached because he was a great man. I know that he has been reunited with his wife. I'm glad that Heavenly Father has such a great plan in place for all of his children. He knows when it is our time to leave this earthly existence.
One of my favorite hymns was written by President Hinckley. It is "My Redeemer Lives" Hymn 135 in the LDS Hymnbook.
I know that my Redeemer lives,
Triumphant Savior, Son of God,
Victorious over pain and death,
My King, my Leader, and my Lord.
He lives, my one sure rock of faith,
The one bright hope of men on earth,
The beacon to a better way,
The light beyond the veil of death.
Oh, give me thy sweet Spirit still,
The peace that comes alone from thee,
The faith to walk the lonely road
Thad leads to thine eternity.
What can be more powerful than the testimony of that song. He was a great leader. Without him we probably would not have as many Temples as we do today. He will be missed.
