Our New House

I love our new house. It has so much room - well the total is about 1700 Sq ft but the basement is only 1/2 the size of the house and unfinished. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs and so far there is a room downstairs but Matt has other plans for it. Even if he isn't sure what he is going to do with it yet he has plans to make it different.

Sunken Family Room (originally a garage and was converted into the family room later)

Living Room (you can see the family room in the first picture it is 2 steps down from the rest of the house)

Levi saw me taking a picture and decided to pose before he crawled away :)

Levi's bedroom

3rd bedroom (we are using it as our computer room/office)

Laundry area right outside the 3rd bedroom before the stairs to go outside and the stairs to go downstairs.

Levi is my big helper (he either closed up the boxes for us or he unpacked and then repacked the boxes)

Sleeping

Levi now has this new game to play to get out of his crib. He throws his blankie out of the crib and then cries until I go in there and either get him out or give it back to him. What I do really depends on whether he has slept or not. One day I gave him the blankie back 3 times and he still wasn't asleep to I let him cry for a few minutes first. After 5 minutes he stopped crying so I went in to check on him and this is what I found:

He was asleep but folded in half so I picked up his blankie and snapped a few pictures before I moved him out of that position. He immediately found his blankie and settled down to sleep. To tell the truth this is actually the second time it has happened.

10 Months Old

Levi is now 10 months old (ok so he is almost 11 months old but I had to put this post in anyway). He is now eating pretty much everything we eat. He isn't picky at all and loves all food.
His milestones this month are:
He now stands up on everything he can - all the way to his feet.
He has taken a step or 2 holding on to the couch (cruising) but only once.
He can climb up 2 stairs but not down yet. I seem to stop him all the time from taking a head dive down the stairs all the time at other peoples houses.
He signs "eat" all the time and has now started grunting if someone is feeding him too slow (usually Matt)
No more new teeth yet so he still only has 4. I'm almost surprised that he can chew up chicken and hamburger. It takes longer for him to eat it but he does.

He loves his blanket and if he hasn't seen it for a while when he gets it he will hug it tight and pat it.
We are trying to do the pacifier only for naps and bedtime but that isn't going very well right now. With the move he is upset so he still had it attached to him.

Camping and a Birthday Party

Levi went camping for the first time on June 20th. It was our ward camp out. He did very well. I actually expected him to be up more in the night but he had a very hard time falling asleep in the first place. He usually goes to bed around 8 pm and here it is almost 10:30 pm and Levi is still awake. He finally fell asleep when I wrapped him up in a few blankets. Then he woke up at 4 because he had rolled out of his blankets and was cold. Matt got him and we put him in bed with us. When he was warm again he decided it was time to play. Matt's brother Eric and his children came with us too and it was fun to hang out with them. In the morning we had a paint gun shooting contest and while I grew up shooting guns the paintball gun is very different. You can't aim. That threw me off so I was in last place in the women's competition. Matt was one of the last of the men to keep going but a few other people beat him in the end.

After breaking down camp we headed straight for Utah because my Grandma and her husband, Richard, were having their 80th birthday party. I went expecting to see my grandma but found out that she was in the hospital with blood clots in her lungs. She had put so much effort into this party that she insisted that the party go on without her. It was videotaped so that she could watch it later. There was a very nice program with Richard's son and granddaughter sang some songs and then my Uncle Bob and my second cousin played the bagpipes while other second cousins danced the Highland Fling and the Sword Dance. The pipers played a duet which was nice. It was a very good party and I'm sad that my grandma wasn't actually there in person. the next day we went to visit her in the hospital where she kept sitting straight up in bed about different things. Honestly I've never known my grandma to sit still ever so that didn't really surprise me.

It was a long and exhausting weekend but we survived. Hopefully the next time we go camping I'll plan better so that Levi doesn't freeze again.

Matt Turns 30

Matt turned the big 30 on June 9. I'm sorry that this post is almost a month late but better late than never right? We had a great evening out just the 2 of us which is so rare now. Levi was left with a babysitter that I was so unimpressed with that even if she asks to babysit again I'll just tell her no. Anyway we went out to dinner and then to a movie. Then we came home and went to bed because it was so late but I really hope that Matt liked his birthday. I even let Levi help me write his name and color on the card he gave Daddy.
