Camping and a Birthday Party

Levi went camping for the first time on June 20th. It was our ward camp out. He did very well. I actually expected him to be up more in the night but he had a very hard time falling asleep in the first place. He usually goes to bed around 8 pm and here it is almost 10:30 pm and Levi is still awake. He finally fell asleep when I wrapped him up in a few blankets. Then he woke up at 4 because he had rolled out of his blankets and was cold. Matt got him and we put him in bed with us. When he was warm again he decided it was time to play. Matt's brother Eric and his children came with us too and it was fun to hang out with them. In the morning we had a paint gun shooting contest and while I grew up shooting guns the paintball gun is very different. You can't aim. That threw me off so I was in last place in the women's competition. Matt was one of the last of the men to keep going but a few other people beat him in the end.

After breaking down camp we headed straight for Utah because my Grandma and her husband, Richard, were having their 80th birthday party. I went expecting to see my grandma but found out that she was in the hospital with blood clots in her lungs. She had put so much effort into this party that she insisted that the party go on without her. It was videotaped so that she could watch it later. There was a very nice program with Richard's son and granddaughter sang some songs and then my Uncle Bob and my second cousin played the bagpipes while other second cousins danced the Highland Fling and the Sword Dance. The pipers played a duet which was nice. It was a very good party and I'm sad that my grandma wasn't actually there in person. the next day we went to visit her in the hospital where she kept sitting straight up in bed about different things. Honestly I've never known my grandma to sit still ever so that didn't really surprise me.

It was a long and exhausting weekend but we survived. Hopefully the next time we go camping I'll plan better so that Levi doesn't freeze again.
