My Sewing Project

As you may have read earlier I'm using cloth diapers most of the time for my kids. I have decided - with a little encouragement from Matt of course - to try my hand at sewing my own diapers and covers. I was excited to get patterns online and help from a friend who also makes cloth diapers and then buy material and elastic and hook and loop touchtape (like velcro but better) and thread. Matt brought up my sewing machine from the storage room and made me a foot stool to that I could sew at the kitchen table.

I finally put some things together. They are covers - fleece soakers to be technical. Anyway I have made 7 so far - 1 small that is really newborn size, 3 meduims these actually fit Reah, 1 large it fits Levi with only a prefold under it but won't go on over any of his fitted diapers, and 2 extra larges that fit Levi in the rise but not around the waist. I guess I need to tweak the pattern to get the rise for the xl with the large waist.
Here are the pictures:

Now I said that I would do a diaper-sew-a-thon. Another mommy who makes diapers said that she was going do make a diaper a day for a month and she started on May 17th. I'm not quite ready to start but I will be ready soon. I'll show pictures of my diapers as I make them too so you can see them. Plus it may give me the motivation to do it too.

Let the sewing begin!

Hi Sheryl, this is Marie, Priscilla's sister. I was reading your post about making diapers and am very intrigued. I have decided that I will use cloth diapers with our kids too, but had never thought about actually making some of my own. I might have to give this a whirl beforehand to try my hand at it.

Could you tell me what site you used for your pattern? Or where I can get one? You can email me at marie.moser@comcast.net
